During the week of November 11–15, 2025, Starwood Pet Travel donated $4,600 to K9s For Warriors, a nonprofit organization that provides trained Service Dogs to military Veterans living with PTSD, traumatic brain injury (TBI), or military sexual trauma (MST).
This contribution was made possible thanks to the engagement and support of the Starwood community.
About K9s For Warriors
K9s For Warriors is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to end Veteran suicide by training and providing Service Dogs to Warriors struggling with PTSD, TBI, or MST. The organization emphasizes the use of rescued dogs, many of which come from shelters or rescue partners, giving them a second chance at life.
According to K9s For Warriors, the organization’s program includes:

Training rescued dogs for Service Dog work

Pairing trained Service Dogs with eligible Veterans

Providing a 21-day, live-in training program for Warriors

Supporting Warriors through follow-up care and resources
This model allows Veterans and their Service Dogs to train and transition together in a structured environment.
How Donations Support the Mission
Funding helps support several core areas of the K9s For Warriors program, including:

Rescuing and evaluating dogs for suitability as Service Dogs

Service Dog training, which can take several months

Veteran training, including housing, meals, equipment, and support during the program

Ongoing follow-up care for both the Warrior and the Service Dog

Veterinary care for the dogs during training
These resources ensure that both the Warrior and the dog have the support they need for long-term success.
