Booby's Trip to New Zealand

Booby’s journey from California to New Zealand began at LAX with a long flight, a new country waiting on the other side, and a family counting down the days until they could see him again.

Back in California, Booby, also known as Gibson, had already earned a reputation for his bubbly personality and endless affection. He had a way of making friends everywhere he went, whether it was with strangers, other pets, or anyone willing to stop and give him attention. Even during his international relocation, that didn’t change.

After arriving in New Zealand, Booby spent 12 days in quarantine before finally being cleared to go home. His family drove an hour and a half to pick him up, eager to reunite after the long separation. But when they arrived, the quarantine staff had something unexpected to say. The people who had cared for Booby during his stay admitted they wished he could stay longer. Every person he encountered along his journey seemed to fall in love with him.

The ride home was quiet. Booby slept peacefully for most of it, finally able to relax after such a big adventure. By the next day, he had already settled into his new life in New Zealand.

Now, Booby spends his days making himself at home with his new furry siblings. He quickly became friends with the family’s German Shepherd and loves chasing their Jack Russell mix around the house. Their senior cat is still deciding how she feels about the newest addition, but that hasn’t stopped Booby from trying to win her over with playful attempts at friendship.

As the only boy animal in the family, Booby has already carved out his place in the home, and his family says they are beyond grateful to have him with them in New Zealand.

Next on Booby’s bucket list is exploring the beauty of his new country. He’s currently being leash trained so one day he can visit the beach and experience the coastline of New Zealand right alongside his family.
