Kennel Sizing Kit
Setting up & using Starwood's Kennel Sizing Kit is simple:
Before you get started, grab the following:
-
Tape or tacks
-
Treats
-
A second person to help align your dog and/or snap pictures (highly recommended!)
Now, let's get started:
Tape or tack the poster up to a wall. For accurate results, be sure that the poster is level with the floor and that the bottom of the poster just meets the floor where your dog will be standing.
Align your dog against the poster just like the outline of the dog shows. Be sure the dog's nose is flush with the left edge of the poster.
Determine which kennel outline your dog fits within. The dog needs to be within a given outline in both length and height. These outlines are the internal dimensions of the given kennel minus the 3" of airline-required "cushion".
Take picture(s) or a video of your pet against the poster. Be sure to take the photos square with your pet and the wall so that the perspective is not distorted. Videos can sometimes be better in this regard because you can move your camera around a bit to show the dog against the poster from various angles. You'll need to submit these in the Pet Travel Portal so that your Pet Travel Coordinator can confirm kennel sizing.
Please note: the outlines depicted on the poster are the maximum allowable pet height/length for the given kennel size. The outlines do not depict the external dimensions of the kennel. Depending on the kennel type, the external dimensions can be as much as 6-8" larger than the lines depicted on the poster. To ensure fit in your vehicle, feel free to ask your Pet Travel Coordinator if you want to know about the external size of a given kennel.
